Lone Ranger Slot
The Lone Ranger is a fictional character from the American old West who alongside his Native American sidekick Tonto would fight outlaws. The Lone Ranger, who got his name from being the only survivor from a group of six Texas Rangers, first appeared in a 1933 radio show. So popular was the series that it spawned a series of books before the television show quickly followed – this series filmed between 1949 and 1957 but shown again and again over the years to generation after generation. There have also been six film versions of the story, many made for TV, although Walt Disney produced the latest in 2013 starring Johnny Depp (as Tonto). This slot however is based upon the long running TV series. The highlight of the slot is the four distinct bonus rounds, each featuring a different aspect of the series.
This slot is set against the backdrop of a desert setting, with rock formations and trees in the background. The reels have a dark brown backing and feature many relevant symbols, including the Lone Ranger himself, Tonto, gun ammunition, a sheriff’s badge and reward posters. You’ll also find the playing card symbols from 9 to Ace. Throughout the game you’re joined by a series of different Wild West based soundtracks, which only enhance the overall theme.
Setup and Play for the Lone Ranger Slot
The Lone Ranger slot has five reels and twenty lines, although you can choose to play fewer. You’ll set your coin amount by clicking up or down on the icon in the bottom left hand corner of the screen and multiply this amount by the number of lines in play to give you your total stake for the spin.
To win at this slot you’ll need to land two or more consecutive character symbols in a row from left to right, or 3 or more playing card symbols in a row. The Lone Ranger mask and him on horseback are the joint top paying standard symbol at 750 coins for five symbols in a row, while Tonto comes next at 400 coins. The playing card symbols are the lowest paying at the game.
The wild, represented by the sheriff’s badge will substitute for any other apart from the four feature symbols at the slot. Any wins using the wild will also be doubled. This wild symbol is actually the highest paying in the whole game – should you land 5 in a row on a win line you’ll pocket a very impressive 10,000 coins.
The Lone Ranger Slot Bonus Features
There are three different features when playing this slot, all activated with the relevant scatter symbol.
The first feature is ‘Tin Can Alley’ which is landed when 3, 4 or 5 of the appropriate bonus symbols appear on the reels. You’ll choose to shoot one of the tin cans and a multiplier which is applied to your total stake is revealed. You’ll also see the other symbols, so you’ll know if you shot the right can. The maximum win in this round is 500x your stake.
The ‘Target Practice’ feature is landed by gaining 3 or more of the ‘bullet’ symbol and sees you taking aim at a number of outlaws. Each hit adds to the multiplier total and you’ll keep going until you run out of bullets – however you can get lucky and have a reload, and you might get the chance to shoot again in the ‘reload chance’ game at the end of the feature. Once again, you can win up 500x your total stake in this feature.
The ‘Free Spins Saloon’ is activated with 3 or more free-spins scatter symbols and sees you in a saloon with numbered barrels. The numbers on the barrels represent the number of free spins and the barrels will be eliminated two by two. Each time they disappear you’ll be made an offer which you can take, or carry on until there is one barrel left – much like the popular ‘deal or no deal’ TV show. During the free spins, you’ll find the ‘Reward Bonus Bounty’ symbol and should this appear anywhere in view 5 times you’ll win the ‘Bonus Bounty’ reward.
The Lone Ranger Slot Conclusion
This slot by Blueprint does a great job of recreating the atmosphere of the vintage TV series. The graphics are good and together with the accompanying sound the slot transports you nicely to the days of 19th century America. The slot plays very well too and never more so than when it comes to the bonus features – where you are a little spoilt with three particularly good games. This is a very good slot by Blueprint and one that will appeal to all.
