Candy Land Slot

There is a certain pecking order when it comes to the world of online casino gaming, with game developers like NetEnt, Playtech, and Microgaming situated at the top of the pile. That isn’t to say that there isn’t room for smaller names to make an appearance on the undercard as it were. One name that is firmly positioning itself strongly within the market right now is Capecod Gaming, a developer that in-spite of its odd name is forging quite a niche. Helping Capecod Gaming push forward is a new game that comes with sugarcoated connotations, as it’s time to take a trip to Candy Land.

Now, “Candy Land” as a game name is pretty cliché by this point, as pretty much every developer has created a title based around it. For that reason, it’s easy to see why Candy Land from Capecod Gaming would be met with a muted response. However, is there more than meets the eye with this particular game? Is this the Candy Land to rule them all? The review below reveals all!

The Colour is in Full Flow

When you think of colour what do you think of? Sugar and plenty of it we suspect, as everyone loves a little bit of the sweet stuff now and then. If we were to describe the look and feel of Candy Land video slot, it would be sugary, as every inch of the game is candy coated to the hilt. We really like the approach that Capecod Gaming has taken here, as they’ve ditched all things stodgy and heavyweight to promote something really snappy looking. Colour rules the screen and does so in a massive way, to the point where it has become almost impossible for us to take our eyes off the reels when putting the game through its paces. Putting it simply, if you like games that “go big” when it comes to colour, you will likely get a real kick out Candy Land.

In a side note, Capecod Gaming should be given additional praise for the degree of production values at hand in Candy Land. It’s the smaller touches that actually make free Candy Land slot so appealing, with the glowing gumball jar, floating sweets in the backdrop, and twirling candy canes giving the UI plenty of pizzazz.

All Kinds of Sweets

The look and overall vibe of Candy Land amps the game up before you spin the reels, but sadly the gameplay here falls a little flat. While it can be fun to play without question, when you dip into the paytable, there just isn’t too much to get excited about. Payouts range from 5 coins (3 green sweets) all the way up to 500 coins (5 blue and white striped sweets). Solid is probably an apt way of describing the paytable here. The problem we have is that the game sets you up for something bigger, so we think that Capecod Gaming could have possibly done a little more all things considered.

Sugary Sweet Special Symbols

Special bonus symbols do make up a part of the Candy Land experience, but you don’t exactly have too much to work with. When the Wild symbol pops up on screen, it will automatically expand to fill up the reels, replicating other symbols along the way to secure you one or more winning paylines. When the expanding reels are in effect, you’ll also qualify for re-spins as well. Again, there isn’t a wealth of options here so don’t expect to come across any mini-games, but what is here is a solid addition to the Candy Land recipe.

Tucking Into More Candy

We mentioned it during the introduction to this review, sweets and candy are now commonplace within the world of online slots. Because of this games similar to Candy Land are pretty much a dime a dozen in 2017. First up, we can’t ignore Candy Land’s namesakes in both Candy Land from Zeus Services and Candyland from Another Games. Style wise, you can’t ignore the similarities that these titles share with Candy Land. Looking beyond the name, we would certainly recommend that players check out the likes of Candy Bars (IGT), Candy Dreams (Microgaming), and Candy Factory (Cayetano Gaming) as well.

Roll on Down to Candy Land!

Candy Land isn’t an original real money online slots game; we would be lying if we went on record to say that it is. Honestly, we can’t even say that this game is Capecod Gaming’s best game, as it simply isn’t. However, what we can say is that Candy Land is bright, bubbly, and largely pretty enjoyable. Quick fix in nature, if you are looking for a game that’s easy to pick up and play, Candy Land is probably worth taking a look at.
