Choo-Choo Slot

Choo Choo Slot

It might not be the most imaginatively named slot game the world’s ever seen, but Choo-Choo Slot has a few things for going for it. Developed by software guru GamesOS, Choo-Choo Slot is set on an old railroad shack, though in all respects the game functions in much the same manner as most 5x3 video slots. There are a number of requisite features to keep things interesting as the rickety old train judders towards its next destination: wilds, scatters and a thematic bonus game, to be specific.

To buy a ticket for this choo-choo train, or to be in with a chance of scooping the x2,000 max pay-out, you’ll need to stake a minimum of 0.20 and a maximum of 2 for each of the 25 paylines. Thus, Choo-Choo Slot – while hardly a penny machine – is accessible to players with a more modest budget. While the game’s return-to-player average is a little low, at 94%, it’s worth having a spin of the reels to see whether the gameplay is enough to keep you interested.

Hitting The Tracks

The base game of this fun 5-reeler is pretty easy to get to grips with. You are, as ever, looking to land as many matching combinations as you can across the reels. Three matching symbols won’t pay especially well, but five will. In a couple of instances, you can also win modest pay-outs for hitting just two matching symbols in a payline.

The action plays out on reels superimposed over a Wild West-style wooden railway shack, alongside which stands a moustachioed railroad worker. The graphics are solid and in 3D. The interface, meanwhile, is very user-friendly.

Symbols in the game include a clock, a pair of railway stubs, a train engine and a wooden railroad crossing sign. A cursory glance at the pay-table reveals the ticket stubs to be the game’s highest-paying symbol, yielding 2,000 for five-in-a-row and 300 for four.

As is customary, winning combinations play left to right, starting from the leftmost column. Only the most valuable combination in each instance is deemed to be the winning one. Neither of these caveats will be news to long-time gamers, though.

Special Symbols

As ever, the most important symbols in the game are the wilds and scatters. The wild symbol is a set of gear wheels. While it doesn’t provide any pay-out on its own, it can replace other regular symbols – except the scatter and bonus icon – to assist winning combinations.

The scatter has a similarly narrow function: it is solely concerned with triggering free spins. Three, four or five scatter icons (a wooden box with FREE SPINS embellished across it) holds the key to five, 10 or 15 free spins. This bonus can also be re-triggered.

Toot Your Horn For The Train Adventure

Keeping true to the theme, all the symbols used in China MegaWild are quintessentially Chinese. From traditional village huts to artsy Chinese pottery; from various Chinese household items to intricately designed artefacts and from beasts of Chinese wild to mythical dragons, the whole gamut of these symbols will evoke a sure-shot Chinese vibe that’s going to soothe you, let you relax and help you get transported straight down the silent streams of the Yangtze! An otherwise non-intrusive backdrop of a Chinese walled garden further makes the whole thing very good to look at.

Gambling On The Line

Once you’ve notched up a win, it’s over to the gamble feature, whereby you can guess the colour of the card – red or black. While guessing wrong will forfeit your cash, multiple correct guesses will see your cash multiply by two. You can guess right five times in one round, before Choo-Choo Slot tells you to bugger off. You can also choose to guess the suit of a card, whereby your cash is quadrupled.

All Aboard The Choo-choo Slot

Choo-Choo Slot is an interesting one. While the 3D graphics are needle-sharp, the gameplay itself is not especially cutting-edge. There are no multipliers to speak of, no stacked wilds or daring animations. When you set your eyes on a game that’s so visually arresting, it’s a little disappointing when the gameplay doesn’t follow suit. That being said, the bonus game saves Choo-Choo Slot from ignominy. The gamble function is another feature that some players will appreciate. Choo-Choo Slot won’t suit everyone, but there sure are worse games out there.
