Girls With Guns Slot Machine
Wherever you stand on the complex issue of gun regulation, the femme fatales that live in the reels of Microgaming’s Girls with Guns video slot are gonna do one thing and one thing only: look pretty while holding a big-ass gun. The creative marketing minds at Microgaming have created a 5-reeler that, while being mildly controversial (a pop at not yet being allowed to supply USA online casinos perhaps), certainly draws the eye – not least because the girls with guns are, how should we put it… especially well endowed (ahem).
Armed To The Teeth
Girls with Guns is based on the eponymous sub-genre of animated action films that feature scantily-clad women fighting improbable battles against hilariously stereotyped villains. These movies aren’t gonna win any Oscars but they’re sure as hell entertaining. Hit up YouTube and I’ll see you in two hours for the rest of this review…
A word on the symbols, then. Girls with Guns – shock horror – features several girls with guns. There’s a buxom brunette (Demolition: Alex) wearing a crop top and goggles, camouflage paint daubed beneath her eyes and a shotgun slung over her shoulder; another buxom brunette (Artillery: Maria) who bears more than a passing resemblance to Cindy Crawford and whose weapon seems to be out of shot; a third buxom brunette (Tactical: Zoe) brandishing an assault rifle; a fourth buxom brunette (Sniper: Kira)… you get the idea. The developer has a thing for brunettes, that’s all I can say, though whether his ideal woman packs heat is anyone’s guess. There’s one blonde girl on the reels (Infiltration: Jess), I should say, and also a racy redhead (Leader: Katherine). Girls with guns aren’t the only symbols, though.
Let’s not forget about the Tony Montana-esque figure in the white suit and black shirt, puffing merrily a cigar. Nor should we omit to mention the pair of jacked commandos in cut-off army fatigues, or the grenade symbol, or the Girls with Guns Logo, or the usual playing cards, from 10 through to Ace. The action plays out against the backdrop of a jungle, calling to mind the landscape featured in Schwarzenegger classic Predator.
A Jackpot Worth Shooting For
Girls with Guns is one of those Microgaming titles that offers 243 ways to win. A medium to high-variance game, it should have more than enough juice to satisfy seasoned slots players. Add to the mix the quality of animation, as well as bonus features, re-triggering free spins, multipliers and stacked wilds and you have one hell of a game on your hands.
A quick word on the stakes, firstly. Coin values vary from 0.01 up to 0.05, with up to 20 coins allowable per spin. The lowest amount a player can place on a wager is 0.30, while the most they can part with is 30. The bumper jackpot, meanwhile, is 1,900,000 coins. Yep, that’s a cool 1.9 million coins.
Gun-toting Gameplay
The gameplay itself is easy to get to grips with. Simply land two or more symbols in a pay-line to make a win. When you hit a winning combination, you can expect more than a jaunty sound effect: a girl with a gun bursts out of her reel and starts joyously unloading rounds. The effect is particularly dramatic when you score a big win: one of the gun-toting females shoots up a compound, blowing it to smithereens as the wild symbols flash.
The Girls with Guns logo is the second highest-paying in the game, yielding a massive 4,000 credits for 5 in a line, or 800 for 4 in a line. It’s also the game’s stacked wild, replacing all symbols except the grenade scatter. What’s more, if the wild appears on the third reel it can expand to make the entire reel wild. This fortuitous turn of events can only occur in the base game, though.
The scatter symbol in Girls with Guns is the grenade. Three or more entitles you to 15 free spins. In each free spin, a random reel is turned wild. The free spins can also be re-triggered, and scatter wins are multiplied by the total bet staked.
As well as unlocking the door to freebies, the scatter is the game’s highest-paying icon. A gargantuan 30,000 prize awaits he who can land five of these beauties in a row.
Lock And Load
There’s no getting around it: Girls with Guns is a wonderful slot game. Edgy, adventurous, loaded with nifty features and promising a huge jackpot. If you haven’t experienced it yet, what are you waiting for?
