Pharaoh’s Ring

Pharaoh’s Ring Slots

Pharaoh’s Ring was released by Novomatic in April 2013 and arrived to only a lukewarm reception. The game’s Ancient Egypt slot theme is hardly new, nor is it original for that matter, but it seems that as time has passed the general view of the Pharaoh’s Ring has changed. Looking past its obvious limitations, it seems that players have a new found appreciation for this title.

It may not go down as a Novomatic classic, but is Pharaoh’s Ring worthy of a little more credit than it’s given?

The New Ring To Rule Them All

Though Pharaoh’s Ring has not enjoyed the same success as some of Novomatic’s more popular online slot games, such as Lord of the Rings, but it does have some features that players can certainly enjoy. As a video slot it is visually appealing despite the monotonous theme, which does stand in the game’s favour.

The majority of the symbols used in the game are the same ones used in other Pharaoh and Egyptian themed titles. The one symbol that sets this game apart from similar games is its ancient book, known as the Book of Ra, which unsurprisingly has its own slot (the Book of Ra slot machine).

Being the most significant symbol in the game, it is the only one that has the ability to replace the game’s other symbols in order to help players win money. When a player gets at least three of the ancient book symbols on the reels at the same time the free spins feature is triggered. Players get 10 free spins to test their luck with initially. During the free spins feature expanded symbols can lead to increased winnings.

Extra bets can be activated during the game, adding an extra element of excitement to proceedings. When extra bets are activated, the ring the game is named after can end up on the second reel and fourth reel on the screen. The Pharaoh’s ring symbol is considered a wild symbol while extra bets are in play.

Lacking A Progressive Touch

While an increasing number of today’s online slot games are linked to a progressive jackpot, Pharaoh’s Ring is not. This can be a big disappointment to players who have become accustomed to playing for insanely big jackpots.

In addition to there being no progressive jackpot, there is no bonus game included in Pharaoh’s Ring, another aspect of successful slot games that this one is lacking. While more experienced players are used to the older slot machine games that didn’t usually have a bonus game or progressive jackpot attached, the younger generation of slot machine players are likely to turn towards games that offer everything Pharaoh’s Ring doesn’t.

A Simple Interface For A Simple Game

Most players find that the interface of Pharaoh’s Ring is easy to understand and navigate. The game features a start button that allows players to get the action going. Other features of the game’s interface include its gamble feature, a feature that is built into many slot machines. The gamble feature allows players at any time during the game to bet the entire amount that they have won in that particular session of play. Lucky players will have their winning amount doubled, but unlucky players lose all of the winnings they have.

To win the gamble feature players have to correctly guess whether the next playing card drawn is black or red. They can repeat the gamble feature as many times as they choose to. When a player has had enough of the gamble feature they can exit out it and resume regular game play.

There is an undeniable lack of features to be found within Pharaoh’s ring, but in defence of the game was it made available is easy enough to access. Everything within the game is displayed and explain clearly, which the game particularly simple from a function standpoint. It certainly stands for something that this game can be picked up and played without too much thought.

Pharaoh’s Fortune

With five reels and 20 paylines, Pharaoh’s Ring offers a maximum pay out to winning players that is 5,000x an original wager. For some players this will be enough to make up for the lack of a progressive jackpot, but for others it won’t.

There are certainly some compelling reasons to give this game a try, but it just doesn’t have the legs to really to be an online casino contender by the looks of things. Simple enough but lacking substance, Pharaoh’s Ring is still as polarizing a release as ever it seems.
