Lucky Hero

Superheroes need a little luck. It’s tough out there on the frontlines, trying to uphold justice and do the right thing when every two-man criminal gang and their dog is trying to do you in. With forces of evil to dodge and vagabonds and villains lurking in the shadows, you’ve got to keep your wits about you and sleep with one eye open. A little luck is essential in the quest to stay alive. Lucky Hero is a game whose protagonist is a masked crusader who looks like a cross between Captain America, Batman and Spiderman. He’s all your favorite heroes rolled into one.

When the game loads, you’ll find yourself looking at a conventional bingo board, save for the superhero-themed background. That’s the first thing to know about Lucky Hero then: it’s a bingo game. In practice, it’s extremely similar to a regular bingo game, including the ability to play with four cards at once, but it’s been livened up a little by the superhero decor. Naturally, Lucky Hero is designed to be a mobile-compatible game, for bingo is played by an increasingly mobile audience who relish the ability to play instantly on the go.

You Feeling Lucky?

Although you can play Lucky Hero on desktop, it hasn’t been designed to make use of the full screen, and the experience isn’t nearly as convincing as it on mobile, where the graphics look way sharper. The animations unfortunately look equally bad, regardless of which device you use. That being said, when Lucky Hero first loads, it looks way better than Taco Mania, which is another bingo game that this developer have put their name to.

The backdrop for the game features an urban rooftop scene, with a crescent moon in the sky and our superhero stood on the red roof tiles surveying the city, shield in hand. To the bottom of the screen, in the foreground, a handful of old-fashioned trash cans can be made out along with a series of animated bingo balls which are bursting through a manhole cover. Four bingo cards are overlaid, each one neatly designed in white and purple, with a black lettering effect that makes them look like calendars.

Assemble Some Lines

Each bingo card costs you 1 coin and because you’re playing with them all active, this means that each game costs you 4 coins. When you hit the start button, the bingo balls burst from the entrance to the manhole and fill the space between the bingo cards with a melodic flourish. The audio is fairly minimal in this game; just the odd bleep here and there to signal that something is happening. Once the first batch of bingo balls has been drawn, clicking on the large play icon again will release large bingo balls, one at a time now, from the manhole.

If any of these new balls help you complete lines on your bingo cards, they will be marked accordingly and a speech bubble will emerge from the superhero’s mouth informing you of how much extra you’ve won with the aid of these balls. The new balls will then be displayed on a rack at the top of the screen. The animations in this game are very fast, so you need to have quick reactions to even witness the balls emerging from the hopper and filling the centre of the screen. After that, a series of arrows will mark out where on your cards you’ve been successful while up above the paytable will flash to show the winning combo.

Bingo-ing Crazy

If you win with a single line in Lucky Hero you’ll be awarded 2 coins, or more for one-line wins that are more elaborate. The most you’ll win from a single line, albeit an extremely complex one, is 30 coins. From there you’re on to two-line wins, which start at 100 coins. The most you stand to win from this game is 1,500 coins, a feat that’s achieved only by filling your entire card with correct numbers.

Lucky Hero in Conclusion

Lucky Hero actually isn’t such a bad game. It’s not brilliant, but as online bingo games go, it’s got enough about it to justify taking a closer look. Play on Android or iPhone, on desktop or tablet, anywhere you like, grabbing a few minutes here and there. That’s all it takes – or even mere seconds – to have some fun with Lucky Hero. Speaking of fun, you can play for fun, enjoying this game in demo mode, or you can play for real money in the hope of securing yourself a superhero-sized win.
