The X Factor Scratch
Whilst the big movie themed slots often steal the show, out there in the real world of entertainment on TV and in film, the reality TV shows frequently and, over the long term consistently, outperform one off productions, some shows more effectively than others.
X factor is, of course, one of the biggest ever and has spawned a number of spin-offs and tributes, some may say it deserves its own live casino slot game or an improvement over the existing slot. For now what we do have, is what OpenBet have given us, which is a themed scratch card game rather than a new 3D animated video slot.
Scratch cards, like slots, have their own individual player demographic, some people love them, some hate them, taking an unbiased view of the game and theme, what does this game have to offer the genre, is it a number 1 hit, or B-side filler?
Theme & Gameplay
Clearly the theme has a broad appeal, X-Factor has become a massive hit in many countries in the decade plus which it has been on the air. The slot is filled with imagery from the show and of course, is dominated by the iconic logo, which forms the scratch panel.
The music, considering the theme, is a little generic and you won’t find much in the way of big win sequences or sound effects like you would in a more interactive game, the characters and icons are well produced but none of the historic winners of X factor are featured, which would seem to be missing a trick a little.
Gameplay is, as with most scratch games, simple enough, select a stake between 0.10 credits and 10.00 credits, then either scratch off the game logo manually with the coin cursor symbol or hit reveal all, the equivalent of auto-spin in a slot game.
When you scratch off the panel, 9 spaces are revealed, each containing a symbol, to rack up a win, simply match 3, with the following payouts awaiting you:
- 3 x Guitar x1
- 3 x Star x3
- 3 x Record 10
- 3 x Male Singer x15
- 3 x Female Singer x45
- 3 x Yes! x750
Summary
It’s perhaps time for scratch cards to start getting the attention that the very best slot games do, OpenBet have done a decent job with this title but we do feel more animation and sound effects would improve the playability of the game. Despite that, the theme will have a huge existing fan-base and instant win gamers are likely to find this very appealing.
