Little Green Man Slots
Whether we choose to blame the vast and wild imaginations that we as human beings all possess or the popular portrayal of relevant themes within popular media over the course of the last century, there’s no question that aliens remain at the forefront of the public conscience! Representing everything about the vast and often unimaginable limits of the known (and for that matter, unknown) universe, the concept of the little green man was popularised in the years following the famous Roswell incident of 1947.
As an idea hammered home in the proceeding decades by any number of movies and television shows all over the world, the notion that we share our solar system with a host of alien species has transcended from the status of completely laughable to being considered as a serious proposition by a significant proportion of the world’s respected scientific community. Given the huge size of the universe, it’s probably more less logical to imply that we are alone than to state that we aren’t!
All of this aside, there’s still pretty much no end to the number of idealistic or otherwise ridiculous portrayals of our would-be intergalactic neighbours within the media. Video slots gaming is no exception, and over the years many developers have put out many, many popular games that have shown various forms of space creatures.
One of the latest in this popular series of games, though a title which isn’t actually out as part of series, is the Little Green Man slot. A brand new release from the awesome folks at SGS Universal, we couldn’t wait to dig in and take a real look at it first hand.
Take Me to Your Leader
First impressions count a lot, first impressions of an alien race – even more so. When we loaded up this slot, the first thing we noticed was how well presented its 5 independent reels were. Though rather bulky, the graphics depicting various fictitious (at least we think so!) alien species are larger than life and really add an instant and appropriately playful air to proceedings.
Beyond the graphics, the game’s user controls are also very well labelled and placed throughout the interface – making for a heightened level of accessibility that is often overlooked in this business. All too regularly, developers assume the experience level and ability of their games’ players, which can make for a droop in user experience across the board and ultimately bring down a slots overall appeal.
Go Green
As previously mentioned, Little Green Man is a 5-reel slot, making it a pretty standard affair in the grand scheme of things. Adding to this regularity, the game functions across 25 paylines. Though a composition of this scale is never a bad thing (it’s the most popular format for a whole range of good reasons, right?) – it does sometimes add an air of predictability to proceedings, don't you think?
The Little Green Man video slot is home to the usual symbols and icons. For starters, there’s a wild symbol which changes into any other needed for a win when it can. However, if the reel position is able to change or replace any other symbols the icon will keep changing – again and again it will morph to suit the combo. This is a brilliantly unique little function that certainly helps draw attention away from the game’s other elements that we’ve seen time and time again from the team down at SGS Universal.
Alternative features of the game include of course a scatter; and when two or more of these appear anywhere across the active reels, a prize is immediately granted. A total of five scatters will award the top prize of a 5,000x multiplier on the line bet. However, three or more scatters will also yield tasty results in the form of free spins!
World’s Apart
With standard reel composition, payline numbers and stake limits (0.01 - 5.00) you could easily be fooled into thinking that this game had very little going for it in the way of unique or defining features. The real saving grace is however the modified reel icon function, which adds a wholly fresh element to proceedings.
We may all be starting to tire of games featuring little green men, though this one is certainly one of the most innovative out there at the minute.
