Is there more of a commanding and fierce legend than that of the dragon? Its awesome size matched by its lava breath make it the stuff of dreams and nightmares, a symbol to be respected but feared. There are many cute representations of dragons, but these aren’t the ones we’re referring to, we’re talking about the big brutes that call the shots and set towns ablaze.
Tom Horn have made a discovery of such dragons and have managed to tame them for the duration of a game of Dragon Egg. They’ll hiss and spit balls of fire at you along the way, but for the most part they’ll do as they’re told, though they’ll never surrender their gold without a fight.
A Dank Cave
Every story has their setting and this is yours: a cave in the middle of some unexplored mountains, a land were residents in nearby towns are weary for what dangers adventurer can awaken.
You’ll have to go quite deep inside to find the opening, and even further before the dragons will show themselves, but when they do they’ll create a racket that could wake the dead. Their claws will be poised to cut you, but never react for they want to test your worth before they make a meal of you.
Out of all six of the dragons, the black wild is you most cunning enemy, never showing himself until he has the upper hand. Flames follow wherever he goes, so you’ll see the plumes of smoke before you ever see him.
Scaly Customers
What about the other five dragons – will they be as menacing or can they be reasoned with, as much as any beast can? Well, in truth there are some ways to quench their bloodlust, and that’s by uniting them with other tiles of the same kind. Every one of the five, save for the red dragon, needs to be placed with a group of three, four or five, with the largest grouping getting the most cash.
Even though finding five of every tile is pretty darn hard, it can be done, and so we’ll leave the figures with you to inspire you upon your quest. The black and purple dragon gets you a maximum of 250, as does the green one, however the blue dragon is worth 500, and the gold and red ones 750 each.
Dragon Egg Bonus
The scatter symbol of an egg does more than deliver free spins, it also activates the bonus level. In this round you need to collect up to three eggs from any one dragon, by doing this you will then birth your free spins and multiplier score. Okay, so it’s not a standalone experience, but it does make you feel like you get two special features instead of one.
As always, the scatter pays out some coins. It’s clear for everyone to see that these dragons have been sitting on a lot of money for a very long time - no wonder Tom Horn sought them out.

The cost of a dozen eggs at your local shop is very different to how much it costs here; users will never exceed paying a bet of 18 credits, with a breakdown of 2 coins placed on each winline. You can stake a smaller amount of 0.05 every line, which is ideal for those who have little money to give.
As this is a Tom Horn game, where would it be without a double or nothing opportunity after every win? We thought there might be a different set-up like we’d seen in the likes of Drunken Vikings, but sadly the developers didn’t bother here. So instead you have to decide the colour of the hidden card, and what do you know, it’s between red and black. We’ll give the brand their due, they tried to make the gamble more in-keeping by decorating the cards with golden eggs, but it doesn’t quite cut it for us.
Roaring Success?
Dragon Egg isn’t a bad game but nor is it an amazing one, and so we’re left with an average slot machine, with an average theme and reasonable payout. It looked like it was going to give us so much more of an experience, but then it never followed through…
