Freaky Cars Slot Machine

From the minds at CTMX/GamesOS Software comes Freaky Cars, a slick new car-themed video slots game. These developers are known for producing graphically enticing and engrossing games for the risk-takers among us, as many of their previous works stand out from the crowd for a multitude of different reasons. Seeing as they have a track record for producing competently made and well-designed titles, plenty was expected of Freaky Cars prior to release.

Proving to be a far from simple theme, car based slot games are often a hit or miss affair, so how does this one stack up against the rest? Read on to find out…

Racing out of the starting blocks

Just viewing the main screen of this game immediately calls into mind Pixar’s Cars, with the red chassis foreground and the image of the racetrack in the background being evocative of the movie’s intro scene. The brightly toned vector graphics lends itself well to the racecar aesthetic they are trying to capture, as this graphical format is effective for simulating the polish of a well-shined vehicle. The freaky faces given to the various car symbols further capture the Pixar-esque feel, and yes, for the endurance players out there; the soundtrack isn’t too bad either.

The menu at on the bottom of the screen is designed with a slick and polished feel, as though it were buttons on the dashboard of a car. Each of the game’s options and buttons are clearly labeled out on the stylised dashboard, and further technical options can be accessed on the left-hand side of the screen. Graphical considerations aside, the game’s design on a technical level does not stray far from the traditional slots setup, and even newer players should be able to quickly identify each of the game’s core features with ease.

Gripping to the road

Freaky Cars handles much like a traditional video slots game. If you are familiar with CTMX/GamesOS Software titles like Freaky Bandits, you should recognise the interface as being nearly identical to their other works. The far left button lets you auto-spin five or ten times in a row. The middle-left button lets you change the denomination of coins used, ranging in values from 0.01 to 2 coins. The middle button lets you adjust the number of pay lines in play (up to 30), and the middle-right button allows you to automatically bet with all lines in play. The right button, obviously, initiates the spin.

Of particular interest is the race that is constantly going on in the background. This isn’t merely decoration, as it serves a function when determining how large many of your prizes get.

Pole position prizes

The only downside to the potential prizes for Freaky Cars is that it doesn’t offer a networked progressive jackpot. That being said, it does not lack for bonus features on a whole, of which the Race Track is a feature of particular note. The first bonus feature is activated when you achieve three of the “Free Spin” scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. This gives you between 5 and 15 free spins to use, depending on how many symbols you received. In addition, all wins are tripled during the free spin period. This can make the jackpots, which sit at a base multiple of 400x the line bet, absolutely massive.

The second bonus feature, which is arguably the game’s most interesting facet, is the racetrack. If you notice the numbers on the cars, these are actually the multipliers that you add to your Race Bonus amount. At every 20th spin, you get a multiplier to combine with your Race Bonus amount determined by the number of the car that crosses the finish like (e.g #2 = 2x, #3 = 3x, etc). This adds up until you reach your 100th spin, upon which you are awarded the Race Bonus. This feature is almost devious in its ability to keep players playing, as it offers a direct incentive to continue spinning the reels.

Revved up enough?

If nothing else, Freaky Cars lives up to its moniker with the freaky-looking cars that show up on the reels. But when it comes to payouts and gameplay, Freaky Cars winds up being incredibly entertaining thanks to the Race Bonus feature. By doling out a bonus every time your number of spins reaches the century mark, it makes you want to reach that figure over and over again. This game offers little that won’t please both the occasional and regular gamblers alike whether playing slots for fun or for real cash wins.
