Rocket Reel Slots
Gaming1 might not be a brand merely known for their refreshing take on the fruit machine slot theme, but it’s definitely a factor they’re associated with. Having played Quarter Million Slot and now Rocket Reel, we can’t help but feel that this company has a passion for old school gaming reimagined.
As with any vintage slot born anew, there are a lot of modern elements that some purist players will find displeasing, such as the additional reels and gamble feature. These are seen in many real cash slots, but it’s normally the newer titles and not the traditionally old ones. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you won’t be falling in love once you try these 4 reels.
Head or Tails
When you’re playing Rocket Reel you have a gamble option at the end of every win. You can choose to ignore this offer by selecting ‘quit’, but we actually like trying for double the cash than not. Before you think you’re going to get a card game, you’re in for a surprise as this example is of a simple coin toss.
One giant coin keeps flipping from heads to tails, while two smaller options are offered for you to click. The setup is very basic, but we found that it was much more enjoyable than most we engage with, mainly because the design is a lot fresher. As for how difficult this feature is to beat, we got four wins in a row, so clearly it isn’t too evil on your funds.
Sweet 16
Rocket Reel isn’t exactly a coming of age slot machine, and yet the number 16 is the sweet spot of the experience. The reason being is down to the bet range offered here, and the blacked out fourth reel just waiting to be spun. When the title begins, you only have 3 reels open to you.
To access that extra reel and thus increase your chances, you need to bet a total of 1.60 credits, aka 16, on the betting widget. That’s a more than reasonable amount for most users, and so opening up the matrix so that it’s more beneficial to you shouldn’t be an issue. We found that having that additional reel helped greatly, for otherwise the wins are few and far between. Sadly we can’t offer a set figure in terms of RTP volatility, but in our experience we’d say that this is a medium challenge.
Hot Rocket
Seeing as we know how curious you guys can be, you’ll no doubt have been asking why the name Rocket Reels, well here’s your answer: the rocket symbols are special. They’re classed as the scatter of the paytable and, depending on what you wager, they can be very rewarding.
They won’t be offering prizes in the thousands, but we’re still not about to turn down a win of 200 credits for a stake of just 1.60 credits. And so you’ll want to watch to see if any of this rockets come whizzing your way. We didn’t experience any for ourselves, but we’ve watched fellow gamers be more successful, so keep the faith.
Simplified Fruits
To demonstrate what we mean when we said “traditionally old” earlier, we want to draw your attention to the 3 reels of Fruit, developed by Microgaming. This is an excellent example of how simplistic the interface can be, as well as how limited but still fulfilling the paytable is. As always, it’s obvious that these more niche titles are less likely to draw in big crowds, however that doesn’t mean they’re any less fun.
So when it comes down to playing Fruit, we think if you like Rocket Reel you’ve got the potential to like this purified version of a fruit machine. We know it isn’t nearly as attractive to look at, but we all know that looks aren’t everything. And if that doesn’t have you convinced, you may be comforted by the reasonable payouts of 2,500 credits.
Reel Good
Rocket Reel is a slot machine that offers a lot of quirky features, some of which are exclusive and others which have been seen before, albeit in a different form. It may not be a high novelty themed game, but we actually prefer that for it keeps the focus on the paytable and grid. If you’re still unsure, remember that you get up to 4 reels, a gamble feature, a joker symbol and a rocking scatter icon.
