Pirate Payout
Pirates were a wild bunch. They’ve been sanitised for the current generation, but don’t let the mythology let you forget that in real life they were savage. Some of the most hardened and violent men ever to sail the seas and walk the plank, pirates were violent, drunken, untrustworthy and generally not to be messed with. Not much fun to meet in real life circa 16th century when piracy was at its peak. In the realm of online casino games such as Pirate Payout however, these bandits of the sea are far jollier.
You can’t visit an online casino without encountering pirate games in some shape or form, usually slots in fact. There aren’t so many instant win games going about that are pirate-themed, and fewer still that play like Pirate Payout. Although nothing revolutionary, this is a well put together game which operates just like an instant win game should. In other words, it’s easy to master, has big top prizes and is enjoyable, which is kind of important. Playing a casino game should never feel like a chore and Pirate Payout doesn’t even come close.
Islands of Adventure
Despite detailing the adventures of a galleon crewed by pirates, the real action in Pirate Payout takes place on land. That’s because the ancient treasure map that forms the board you play on is covered with tiny islands – six to be precise. You’re allowed to land on four of them during your voyage and to then start digging deep to see if you can recover the treasure you previously stashed there. The number of goes you have left is revealed in the top right of the screen.
Pirate Payout is a light-hearted game that’s not to be taken too seriously. Sure, there’s serious money to be made potentially, but the game is deliberately frivolous. The game’s mascot is a rotund pirate with a hook for a hand, a peg leg and an eye patch wearing a hat with a skull and crossbones. All the pirate memes you could ever wish for contained in one cartoon character. Can you imagine how difficult that would be in real life though, trying to balance on the deck of a frigate that’s bobbing up and down when you’ve got one eye, one leg and one arm? Pirates were proof that nursing a disability doesn’t need to prevent you from living your dreams.
Dig for Victory
The sound effects for this game, although basic, are also effective. When you click on an island, your boat will swiftly sail there on the map and the pirate will pull out his spade and start digging complete with the sound of metal on dirt. If you’ve chosen well, the pirate will then stop and produce a prize. Alongside each prize is a symbol representing treasure or something else that’s pirate-themed. It could be a pearl necklace, a parrot or an anchor. Prizes range from just a single coin to 2, 8 and so on all the way up to 8,000 coins.
Pirate Payout has been designed to be a mobile-compatible game, just like the majority of modern instant win casino games. It works very well on Android and iOS devices, loading quickly and playing smoothly. Admittedly it’s not the most complex of games, so you’d expect it to look the part on mobile. Because it’s been developed in HTML5, the game will also work well on desktop, whether you’re using the Chrome browser, Firefox or Safari.
As you make your way around the map, you’ll encounter some extremely diverse islands. One features a volcano, one is mountainous and another appears to contain a small tribal village with mud huts. Once you’ve used up all your goes, the large treasure chest positioned in front of the map will pop open to reveal the winning symbol. If it’s a symbol you’ve unearthed on one of your island forays, you’ll win that prize.
Pirate Payout Summary
It’s hard to find an awful lot to fault with Pirate Payout. Sure, it’s not the sort of game you could play forever, but then instant win games are designed to provide entertainment in short bursts rather than lengthy spells. This is a simple but enjoyable game that does its job, paving the way to notch up wins big and small.
The way the treasure is revealed with an excavation on each island, followed by a final reveal as the treasure chest is opened, is pretty cool, and arguably makes Pirate Payout much more entertaining than your average scratch card. Pirates might have been scary in real life, but in casino game format, they’re delightful company.
