Steampunk Linka
A trend, movement and – let’s face it – a fad within modern design is Steampunk. It’s been around for a little while now, sitting in the wings of popular culture striking out every now and then in the form of various clothing, accessories and visual art forms. If you’ve not heard of it, it is essentially a style of design that seeks to espouse the ideas of historical elements of mechanics with science fiction. If you still have absolutely no idea what that’s supposed to look like, a quick Google image search will surely suffice. Or, failing that, a round or two on the new free Steampunk Linka console from Link2Win.
Link2Win are making some serious waves in the iGaming industry right now. You may have heard of them, or this may be your first exposure. Either way, you’re a part of the club now and should embrace being a part of the inevitable rise of the next big thing within our shared industry.
Having pioneered their very own system (so fresh it is that the patent is still pending!), the team at company HQ in the Isle of Man have spent 2017 diligently introducing a series of new games all of which feature this software. Free Steampunk Linka is one of the most recent online casino-ready releases to this effect. The purpose of this review being to dissect its many features in a critical yet objective way, let’s go!
Themepunk Extraordinaire
You’re either into steampunk or you’re not. If at this stage in the write-up, some 250 words down, you’ve not yet made up your mind on this – fear not, there’s still time. Needless to say, those individuals who like steampunk will find a lot to get enthusiastic about within the theme of this game. Similarly, if steampunk isn’t your thing – you’re hardly going to write home about the way this game looks.
One thing that must be said either way however, is that this game runs like a dream. For the few who have had the pleasure of trying out software by Link2Win thus far, you’ll know exactly what to expect. It’s smooth sailing from start to finish and really makes for a gaming experience worth remembering. What’s more, the 3D graphics are crisp and every game feature adds to the wider theme. Which is all you can ask for, really!
Gears of Victory
Online Steampunk Linka action is a straightforward affair once you’ve grown accustomed to it. The format works around a grid of 25 empty cells, as opposed to the five reels you might be used to seeing when sitting down for a nice real cash session. Once you’ve selected your wager amount and assigned your desired SuperWin number (more on this later), you can dive right in and begin play.
Within the space of each round, the console will assign a number at random to each of the 25 empty cells in total sequence. Links are made when adjacent cells (up, down, left, right, diagonal) feature two corresponding numbers in sequence (1,2,3,4,5…). The number of links made when all of the cells are populated forms the basis for the payouts made at the rounds conclusion.
Now, back to that SuperWin number. This is either selected by a player at the start of the round, or failing that automatically by the console just before the numbers are drawn. It takes up residency in the bottom right-hand cell of the grid and, if the last number drawn in the sequence is a match, shoots your wins into the stratosphere.
What’s at Stake?
The entire pay table is constantly visible to the left of the screen during play and highlights the kind of return you’ll see for each number of links (above 5) based on the amount being wagered. This not only makes for a hassle-free playing experience, but means you can easily keep tabs on the volatility of the game as you go. These are the kind of features that really allow players to learn as much as possible about a new game in as short a space of time as possible.
All in all, this game packs a lot of punch should you choose to play for real money. There’s no doubting the power of this system, which alongside it’s freshness makes it an extremely alluring proposition.
Steamy Conclusions
As one of Link2Win’s latest releases, this title features everything that you would expect it to, had you ever played one of their games. The high specification graphics, the fast mechanics and smooth transitions, the interactive audio – it’s all here in abundance.
The one thing that perhaps detracts ever so slightly from the glory of it all is the theme. It’s not the most creative use of a wider idea that probably could have been applied with a little more grace.
