Long-term agreement signed

International Game Technology (IGT) has announced a long-term agreement with Boyd Gaming Corporation in which Boyd will utilize services from IGT for its Nevada sports betting operations.

Boyd will use IGT’s PlaySports platform in sportsbooks within the Silver State as well as for its mobile sports app and online sports betting site. The two firms will take a phased approach as they work on launching new features and services associated with the agreement.

With the new deal, Boyd Gaming will install IGT’s PlaySports Kiosks in its brick-and-mortar sportsbooks, allowing players to place bets themselves without having to visit a cashier. The platform will provide Boyd with improved navigation of the backend system for operations. It will also update the content for the sports betting app, including betting trends and real-time data.

IGT PlayDigital senior vice president Enrico Drago commented that PlaySports will allow Boyd to differentiate its sports betting product to help the company attract new consumers and grow its revenue. “IGT and Boyd Gaming will create a dynamic omnichannel sports betting product that is sure to stand apart in Nevada,” Drago said, “the most mature and high-volume sports betting destination in the US.”

The two companies have worked together in the US sports betting market since 2018. PlaySports is used by Boyd in other states including Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Iowa.

IGT partnered with FanDuel

IGT has been busy this year. Earlier this month, the company announced a multi-year deal with the FanDuel Group to integrate the PlaySports platform into FanDuel’s retail sportsbooks in the US. The deal will continue through September 2024.

Both new and existing sportsbooks will add the platform. In addition to sports betting, the new deal includes casino games. IGT’s PlayCasino games will be offered in states where FanDuel already has online casino gaming.
