New market for IGT
International Game Technology (IGT) has signed an agreement to power Snoqualmie Casino’s sports betting offerings in Washington. The global gambling technology company announced the deal on Tuesday and will see it supply its PlaySports turnkey solution for both the retail sportsbook and the on-premise mobile sportsbook. It will also provide trading advisory services.
This casino, just 28 miles away from Seattle, has been constructing a sportsbook since the start of June, with the aim of launching in the coming months. It also recently started hiring people so that the sportsbook will be ready to open as soon as it gets the green light.
Diving into the action
Snoqualmie Casino CEO Stanford Le spoke about the excitement of partnering with IGT. He said: “IGT’s leading sports betting platform, products, trading advisory services and on-premise mobile solution will allow us to quickly and easily deploy an exceptional localized sports betting program.”
believes that its partnership with IGT will help the property to engage even further with sports fans
He also spoke about how Snoqualmie Casino is the nearest property of its kind to the home stadiums of MLB’s Seattle Mariners and the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks. Therefore, the casino believes that its partnership with IGT will help the property to engage even further with sports fans.
IGT PlayDigital senior vice president Enrico Drago also commented on the company’s first foray into the Washington sports betting market. He spoke about how this is another notable milestone for the PlaySports team, saying: “IGT looks forward to helping the casino establish a best-in-class sports betting program and expand gaming experiences for its patrons and sports fans through our proven PlaySports technology and services.”
Sports betting on its way
Sports betting is on its way to Washington, as the Washington State Gambling Commission (WSGC) approved tribal gaming compact amendments for 15 tribes last month, including the Snoqualmie Tribe.
As part of the compact, the Snoqualmie Tribe will be able to open a retail sportsbook at one of its current locations in the state. It will also have the ability to install sports betting kiosks throughout the facility. Only people on-site at the casino property will be able to use the mobile sportsbook. Geolocation services will ensure that this remains the case.
The gaming compacts still need federal approval and the WSGC will have to issue licenses to tribes before sportsbooks can launch. Officials are hopeful that sports betting in the state can launch in time for the 2021 NFL season.
