Landmark announcement
The NHL Board of Governors recently agreed to allow teams to display advertisements on player jerseys for the 2022-23 season with the new Jersey Advertising Program. Caesars Entertainment has become the first company to feature a logo on team jerseys after signing an agreement with the Washington Capitals in a landmark deal.
The Washington Capitals announced the news on Twitter:
The multi-year deal will highlight the Caesars Sportsbook logo during Capital One Arena home games in the 2022-23 season. The team will place the logo on the home and third jerseys of the NHL team.
Includes advertising and sports betting
The Capitals will showcase a patch on the upper-right of the chest area of the jersey. The introduction of the patch marks the first time that the league has allowed such advertising on a jersey in the history of the sport.
Along with the logo advertising on team jerseys, the Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) and Caesars Sportsbook partnership includes casino, gaming, and Caesars Rewards programming elements. Caesars will operate a hospitality space at the home arena and offer VIP seating options.
Jim Van Stone, MSE president of business operations and chief commercial officer, commented that the company is thrilled to introduce Caesars as its first home jersey advertising partner.
reflects our shared commitment to providing sports fans with world-class, unique experiences”
“Together as two industry leaders, we’ve built a robust partnership in the gaming and casino space, and our overall relationship reflects our shared commitment to providing sports fans with world-class, unique experiences,” he said.
The Jersey Advertising Program allows NHL teams two sponsors each. The Capitals plan on announcing its away sponsor later on, with Caesars being its home sponsor.
Football tie-ups for Caesars
Caesars Entertainment is working to spread its sports betting brand throughout the United States. Along with its recent NHL deal, it has been busy setting up professional and college football agreements. The brand announced a partnership with the New Orleans Saints and the Fiesta Bowl during the summer months.
First up was the deal involving NFL’s New Orleans Saints. Caesars Entertainment signed a 20-year agreement with the team, gaining exclusive naming rights to the Saints’ home stadium. Now known as the Caesars Superdome, the property will play host to Saints, college, and high school football games.
For college football fans, Caesars has teamed up with the Fiesta Bowl Organization to be the exclusive sports betting and fantasy gaming partner of the annual bowl game. The partnership is a first of its kind and will see Caesars Entertainment host fan lounges during the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl and the Guaranteed Rate Bowl.
