Record-breaking, multi-year deal
English Premier League (EPL) franchise Everton Football Club has announced a record-breaking, multi-year deal with iGaming and sports betting firm Stake.
highest value front-of-shirt deal”
According to an official Everton news release Thursday, Stake has agreed to pony up to what the club states is the “highest value front-of-shirt deal in the Club’s 144-year history.” Stake took to Twitter to share news of its club record partnership with the Liverpudlian franchise:
The partnership between the English soccer team and Curacao-based online sports wagering platform comes into effect July 1. Despite the looming UK government white paper on sports betting reform, Everton believes the brand will feature prominently on merchandise, stadium screens and displays, and across the soccer team’s digital platforms.
The Everton statement conveyed that its strategic focus on increasing revenue across the franchise’s commercial assets was, in fact, a precursor to the record deal with Stake.
Cazoo to Stake
According to the Everton news release, the team chose to end its partnership with used car dealer firm Cazoo “early.” The statement continues that Everton’s “commercial team were able to beat off competition from within football and other sports to secure the lucrative deal with Stake.”
The English soccer team equally impressed Stake head of acquisition, Akhil Sarin. He said Everton “perfectly complements our own growth ambitions as we seek to expand our presence globally and strengthen our top-tier sports sponsorship portfolio.”
Completing the mutual compliments was CEO of Everton, Professor Denise Barrett-Baxendale, who spoke of her firm’s excitement to partner Stake, which she described as “an ambitious organization with impressive growth plans.”
Stake in the news
By inking a Stake deal, Everton has taken a different tactic to some other EPL teams. Last month, Crystal Palace made the news when it ditched its front-of-shirt sponsor, betting brand W88. On Wednesday, Newcastle United followed suit with its betting sponsor FUN88.
handed out $1m in bitcoin
Stake, meanwhile, keeps on making the headlines for new sponsorship deals. Drake has famously taken up with Stake and recently handed out $1m in bitcoin during a live-streamed gambling session with the platform.
Then comes the recent story of the two famous Twitchers who took to Stake sports betting and generated some eye-watering figures.
