Las Vegas police have arrested a man for smoking marijuana outside of a Strip casino as well as attempting to bribe them. Officers responded to a call that two men were smoking marijuana outside of the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino early Monday morning.
The arrest report confirms that an officer spoke with one of the offenders, Pennsylvania resident David Benamati. The man had watery/red eyes, a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, and blurred speech. Upon being patted down, Benamati started to become somewhat resistant.
he had $1,000 in his pocket that the officer could take if he was released
As officers attempted to place handcuffs on the man, he fell to the ground. Police eventually brought Benamati to the security office in the hotel. That’s when he allegedly started trying to bribe one of the officers, mentioning that he had $1,000 in his pocket that the officer could take if he was released.
When confronted, Benamati denied that he was attempting to give a bribe. However, this didn’t stop him from subsequently offering both officers $200 to “forget everything that has happened” when they were en route to the Clark County Detention Center.
Authorities have hit the man with charges relating to bribery, resisting an officer, and the consumption of marijuana in public.
