The Detroit Lions released wide receiver Stanley Berryhill only a couple of weeks after the wide receiver received a six-game suspension for violating NFL’s gambling policy. The Lions announced the move on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old will serve a suspension for the first six games of next season after allegedly engaging in mobile sports betting while at a team facility. He did not bet on NFL games.

already let go of C.J. Moore and Quintez Cephus

Three other Lions players received suspensions last month for gambling policy violations. The team already let go of C.J. Moore and Quintez Cephus after they were suspended indefinitely for wagering on NFL games. Wide receiver and 2022 first round draft pick Jameson Williams remains on the roster and will serve a six-game suspension.

Stanley Berryhill was undrafted in 2022 and signed for the Detroit Lions after briefly being a member of the Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals. He played in four games last season, taking part in 40 snaps.

The NFL is cracking down hard on any players who engage in mobile betting at team facilities, even if they are not wagering on NFL games.
