With stagnant cryptocurrency markets not holding much excitement at the moment, many traders are looking at alternative ways to get some action. Instead, many are betting on hamster races through a Blockchain-based platform.
The operator supposedly gets a 5% cut from all bets
The spectacle involves real hamsters, with some people wagering as much as $500 on a single event through HamsterGG, which began streaming races on Twitch before moving to its own website. The races run every few hours and the live streams will often garner more than 1,000 viewers. The operator supposedly gets a 5% cut from all bets.
HamsterGG has been up and running for a few weeks now, with bettors typically placing wagers using Binance USD (BUSD). This platform has also now released its own token known as HAMS, which has achieved a capitalization of more than $6m nearly overnight.
The organizers behind the hamster racing believe that this is only the beginning, and plan to scale their offering up even further in the future.
