The Mega Millions grand prize fund has reached a staggering $1.55bn going in Tuesday’s draw

With no jackpot winners since April, the Mega Millions grand prize fund has swollen to record proportions, reaching a staggering $1.55bn after Friday’s draw. It is the largest prize since Mega Millions was established in 2002.

The New York Lottery took to Twitter after nobody won the jackpot on Friday to urge citizens to buy tickets ahead of the $1.55bn draw, which takes place Tuesday night:


The New York lottery also shared news of a $1m Mega Millions prize-winning ticket sold in Commack. While nobody landed the jackpot, there were also $1m winners in other states, including Louisiana, Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas.

The Mega Millions record jackpot stack began in April after a winner from Syracuse, New York landed $20m. Other jackpots claimed this year include a $1.35bn windfall in January, previously the second largest in the national lottery brand’s history. The world’s biggest-ever lottery jackpot, however, is the $2.04bn Powerball lottery won in November 2022.
