Blueface sentences for Vegas shooting
Rapper Blueface, real name Jonathan Jamall Porter, was sentenced Monday to three years probation for a shooting at a Las Vegas strip club.
Porter, 26, arrived at his sentence after he accepted a plea deal. He will avoid jail time if he completes his probation without any hiccups.
may not contact the victim of the shooting
The judge in the case ordered the rapper, who rose to prominence with the 2018 track “Thotiana,” to avoid contact with firearms and illegal drugs. He also may not contact the victim of the shooting and cannot visit the Las Vegas Strip or downtown area other than for matters of work.
The incident
Blueface’s probationary period will not exceed three years, and he may receive reduced charges if he completes the period without interference. Clark County District Court Judge Kathleen E. Delaney said that Blueface can still face prison time if he violates the terms of his probation.
“We were pleased that the Court followed the negotiations of the parties in this matter,” Blueface’s attorney, Kristina Wildeveld, said. “Mr. Porter is ultimately just looking forward to getting back to focusing on his music career and moving forward with his life.”
Traylor was shot in his left hand and was able to avoid serious injury.
The case details involve the shooting of a man named Kentabius Traylor outside of Euphoric Gentlemen’s Club in Vegas on Oct. 8, 2022. Traylor was shot in his left hand and was able to avoid serious injury.
The shooting occurred after Blueface and Traylor engaged in a fiery conversation at the club. The latter was also assaulted by the rapper’s entourage, according to reports, though they did not face legal punishment.
Blueface was arrested on charges of attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon, owning a gun by a prohibited person, and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure last November, according to Las Vegas television station KTNV. He pleaded guilty to battery and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure in July. The other charges were dropped.
The establishment has closed since the shooting.
Other controversies
Euphoric Gentlemen’s Club also filed lawsuits against Blueface after it was forced to shut its doors following the shooting. The owner is hoping to recoup more than $15,000 in damages and named the rapper as the reason for the club’s eventual failure.
“As a direct result of [Blueface’s] negligence, willful and/or reckless conduct, the club’s licenses were revoked,” one lawsuit filed last December stipulated.
It’s believed that both lawsuits are still pending in civil court.
arrested in June for robbery
Blueface is no stranger to run-ins with the law. He was arrested in June for robbery and allegedly swiping a cell phone from a woman at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas after she used the phone to take a video of his girlfriend, Chrisean Rock.
He was also taken into custody in 2022 and 2019 for weapons charges.
In 2021, he assaulted a bouncer at a nightclub who denied him access, which prompted police intervention. In 2018, he was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
Blueface is also a popular figure online, not just for his music, but for his divisive family relationships. He and his girlfriend often find themselves in the headlines for fighting and scandalous actions. Blueface also recently made himself the center of controversy for posting pictures of his son’s genitals on social media.
The rapper’s last album, titled “Famous Cryp (Reloaded),” released in 2020. It peaked at 29 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 and 17 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
