Western Australian Police responded to a call after the discovery of the body of a female in her 30s in a hotel room at the Crown Perth Casino. Paramedics were unable to revive her when they arrived on the scene early Monday morning. A 42-year-old man who was known to the victim was also found in the 12th-floor Crown Towers hotel room with significant self-inflicted injuries.

Police apprehended the man before he received treatment at the Royal Perth Hospital. A police spokesperson confirmed that the two people knew each other and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the events. The authorities are asking anyone with information about the matter to get in touch.
A homicide investigation has begun and a Crown Resorts spokesperson confirmed that the company is cooperating with the police, as well as supporting staff members.
The Crown Towers has been open since December 2016 and has about 500 rooms, costing about AU$600m (US$382m) to develop.
