WynnBET and Betr are both leaving the Massachusetts online sports betting market, which means that just six platforms will remain in the Commonwealth. Betr revealed last week it will not attempt to renew its temporary license, while WynnBET announced on Wednesday that it will also cease operations in the state. They were consistently the lowest two operators in terms of betting handle each month.

The decision will not impact the WynnBET retail sportsbook at Encore Boston Harbor casino.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will discuss these departures at its meeting on Thursday and agree upon an official shutdown date. The decision will not impact the WynnBET retail sportsbook at Encore Boston Harbor casino. The operator has also left seven other states in the past several months as it looks at other ways to better deploy its capital. The company is not a fan of the significant marketing spend that is necessary to acquire customers.

Betr did not rule out returning to Massachusetts in the future. For now, the microbetting operator will focus on launching in other states. DraftKings and FanDuel have dominated the Massachusetts sports betting market since its launch in March, accounting for about 80% of the market share.
