Betfred has said its boss Fred Done has “seen enough” and that the UK-based sportsbook will pay out early on Manchester City to win the English Premier League (EPL). The firm took to X on Monday to share its early payout following a weekend in which title challengers Arsenal and Liverpool both lost games many expected them to win:
The early payout is a relatively risky move with six games remaining and only two points separating the Blues, the Gunners, and the Reds. Blues bettors aren’t complaining, however, as Betfred has paid out City backers to the tune of £750,000 ($935,000).
Paying out early on the EPL is a signature Betfred move, with Monday’s announcement marking the ninth time. While six early EPL predictions have been on the money, Betfred called two wrong, and this season’s outcome is still in the balance.
Done, however, believes it’s “game over” and that City are champions in waiting. The Betfred boss said he watched both Liverpool’s 0-1 defeat to Crystal Palace and Arsenal’s 0-2 loss to Aston Villa. He stated:
Liverpool look as if they’re beat. They’re gone.”
He added: “For anybody that backed Manchester City before 2pm on Sunday, I’m paying out on City to win the Premier League from now. Go and get your money.”
