Kanon Gaming has suffered the wrath of the Swedish Gaming Authority (SGA) in the form of an SEK7m ($670,000) fine and warning.

According to the SGA, locally known as the Spelinspektionen, an audit found that Kanon “has not helped customers reduce their gambling when there has been a reason to do so.”

it was not clear what intervention measures would take place

The company, which operates websites Casino Epic and Loke Casino in Sweden, supposedly did not work “proactively and risk-based” enough in regard to potentially vulnerable customers. SGA officials said it was not clear what intervention measures would take place if a customer displayed problem gambling behavior.

This is not the first time Kanon Gaming has found itself in hot water with a regulator this year. In February, the Malta Gaming Authority fined the company €67,000 ($71,913). Kanon failed to establish a source of funds for its customers in that instance, failing to do so in 90% of the files reviewed.

Meanwhile, the SGA is also no stranger to handing out fines. It fined Svenska Spel $9.5m in March this year, and hit Bet365 parent company Hillside Ltd with a penalty of $7.7m in April 2023.
