Drake has had quite a bad go of it lately and things did not improve with the conclusion of both the NBA Finals and NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, as he lost six-figure wagers on both. The Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks last week in just five games costing the superstar rapper a $500,000 bet on the Mavs. He was in line for a $1.38m payout if the team won its second-ever NBA Championship.

Edmonton Oilers then missed out on the Stanley Cup on Monday

The Edmonton Oilers then missed out on the Stanley Cup on Monday after losing to the Florida Panthers 2-1 in Game 7, making it 31 years in a row with no Stanley Cups for Canada. The last Canadian team to hoist the Cup was the Montreal Canadiens won in 1993.

The 37-year-old placed $500,000 on Oilers, as well, and was looking at a payout of just over $1m if successful, which would have covered his losing NBA Finals wager.

Drake’s curse has been well publicized in recent years after he began regularly posting screenshots of his wagers on social media through his partnership with offshore gambling operator Stake. He has lost significant sums over the years including $565,000 after wrongly backing Tyson Fury to overcome Oleksandr Usyk in the heavyweight title fight in May.
