A British man has received an 18-month prison sentence in Finland for defrauding two online casinos out of about €835,000 ($902,322). William Anthony Parker accessed the systems of the platforms by taking advantage of a flaw in their software and was able to extract the money in April and May 2023. He now has to forfeit the funds to the state.

Police arrested him in January when they became aware of the matter and froze his assets during the course of the investigation. Prosecutors were seeking a three-year prison sentence for the British citizen.

The 34-year-old has the option to appeal the District Court of Finland’s ruling.
