Missouri’s Secretary of State confirmed the ballot measure last week after the Winnings for Missouri Education political action committee (PAC) petition gathered more than 340,000 signatures to secure its place.

ensure that voters are fully aware of the decision that they face

The state’s professional sports teams and leading sportsbook operators support the PAC which has raised more than $10m after DK Crown Holdings disclosed its latest contribution through a Missouri Ethics Commission filing. The funds initially went towards gathering signatures and now will help promote the proposal to ensure that voters are fully aware of the decision that they face in November.

Campaign spokesperson Jack Cardetti explained that now the matter is officially on the ballot, the group will spend the next couple of months “talking to Missourians across the state about why it makes sense to set up a legal sports betting framework that helps public education.”

The proposed framework would permit online sports betting and set the tax rate at 10%, with most of the resulting money going toward public education programs.
