hoping to have a lease in place by the end of 2024
While the flagship 40/40 Club bar in New York City closed in August 2023, the company’s Vice President of Operations Sheldon Robinson said that it has narrowed down the list of new location options and is in the middle of negotiations, hoping to have a lease in place by the end of 2024.
Jay-Z held a pop-up event over the weekend for the 40/40 Club alongside Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin during the Fanatics Fest NYC. Jay-Z invested in the sports merchandise company back in 2021.
The first 40/40 Club opened in 2003 in New York City, with subsequent locations launching in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Brooklyn, and Atlanta. The establishments feature sports memorabilia on the walls, live music, and often had celebrity visitors.
Talking about the plans for the new flagship property, Robinson said that the goal is to cultivate an environment where people have a “sense of luxury, good service, good food, while watching their favorite sports team play, and also listening to their favorite artists.”
