“This is it, this is happening.” Those were the words shared by Noel and Liam Gallagher of Oasis on Tuesday morning as they announced that they are teaming up again at long last. The iconic British rock band disbanded in 2009 after years of feuds between the two frontmen.

They will play 14 gigs next year across UK locations, including Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin. Tickets will go on sale on Saturday morning at 9am BST.

Oasis played two Knebworth shows in August 1996 with a total crowd of 250,000. They are still the biggest gigs ever put on in the UK, but many more fans missed out on tickets. In total, almost 4% of the UK population tried to get tickets for the record-breaking Hertfordshire gigs.

it will “dwarf” the number of people who tried to get Taylor Swift tickets this summer

The new Oasis gigs will likely be no different in terms of interest, if not even worse. Speaking with ITV, music expert DJ Kevin McManus said these gigs might be even bigger because “people have been talking about it for the past decade.” He thinks it will “dwarf” the number of people who tried to get Taylor Swift tickets this summer.

If we assume there is the same level of interest in Oasis in the UK as there was in 1996, around 2.7 million people will try to get tickets to their new shows. This time around, there are more shows though. If we take this into account then we can assume that 225,000 will try for each gig, and the venues have an average capacity of 79,289.

This means that around 35% of people who try to get tickets will actually get them. This gives you odds of +186 or 1.86/1 of securing tickets if you try. Good luck!
