Kick, the streaming platform funded by crypto casino Stake, has updated its policies this week. In an effort to clamp down on “harmful and exploitative” content, Kick is introducing a rule that will ban users from streaming from unapproved gambling websites that allow users without ID age verification.
Gambling streamer Xposed has taken to X in response to the new updates. The 26-year-old, who was partnered with Stake before switching to Roobet earlier this year, is not happy with Kick’s intention to only approve certain gambling websites:
He believes that Stake is using its control of the website to ensure its streamers only “promote their product,” using the new rules to back creators “into a corner” if they are promoting other gambling websites. Added to this, Xposed argues that anybody who streams Stake has inflated viewers and is shown on the first page of Kick, while those who do not do so have the opposite results.
many streamers left Twitch in October 2022 because the platform banned unregulated casino gambling
“Twitch 2.0,” Xposed concluded. Notably, many streamers left Twitch in October 2022 because the platform banned unregulated casino gambling content, which included those who were gambling on Stake. Trainwreck was one of the first streamers to switch to Kick, followed by Roshtein and Xposed, among many others.
Among the other updates to its policies, Kick is allowing users to customize chats to avoid bots clogging streams, and updating its Safety Hub with new information.
