Just a few weeks after earning a reported $20m for his boxing match against Jake Paul, Mike Tyson is facing a lawsuit of almost €1.5m ($1.6m) for allegedly breaching a contract with a gambling company. The 58-year-old is a defendant in the complaint alongside his company Tyrannic.

claims Tyson signed a contract in January before breaching it in March

Media company Medier claims Tyson signed a deal in January before breaching it in March, the same day he announced the bout against Jake Paul. The reason attributed to Tyson’s “hasty and unlawful termination” was the fight contract. Sportsbook operator DraftKings was one of the main advertisers during the fight card.

A February press release revealed that the former heavyweight champion would be a brand ambassador for Rabona, an online gambling brand that Medier promotes.

Tyson’s team contests the claims, alleging that Medier broke the agreement’s terms several times and that he was entitled to exit the contract.
