Jamaica to Open First Casino, Costing $400m

Casino-goers in the Caribbean and holidaymakers visiting Jamaica late next year who fancy a flutter can do so courtesy of a $400m Princess Hotels & Resorts project.

The launch of the island nation’s first casino at the Princess property in Green Bay, Negril, is expected to take place “by the fourth quarter of 2025” and will be accessible from two newly opened resorts.

Princess Hotels & Resorts Managing Director Enrico Pezzoli made the announcement at the official opening of Princess Grand Jamaica and Princess Senses The Mangrove last week. Pezzoli stated the casino linked to the resorts will offer “a state-of-the-art gaming lounge” and that the new builds will “draw more tourists to our shores than ever before.”

Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness led the ribbon-cutting ceremony last week and described the Princess resort with 1,005-rooms and several overwater suites as one of the “most beautiful” he has seen.

Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett, meanwhile, welcomed the imminent arrival of the island’s first casino via his office’s X platform:
