Nevada casino-goers no longer have to use their wagering accounts only for gambling purposes. The state’s gaming regulators are now permitting people to use their wagering account balance to make non-gaming payments at casinos.

Patrons still can’t use these accounts for purchases off-site or at casinos in other states. Senior Deputy Attorney General John Michela explained that more conversations are necessary before making such a move and to ensure the accounts would comply with federal banking laws.

Talking about how popular this move will be among gamblers, Nevada Gaming Commissioner George Markantonis said that people are going to be “banging on the doors” to access this option as they don’t need to get cash at an ATM or use a debit/credit card to pay for drinks when they can just use their wagering account.
