New Jersey Dishes Out $40k in Fines for Sports Betting Violations

Companies in the sports betting space will $40,000 in fines in New Jersey for a variety of regulatory breaches.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement revealed on Monday that DraftKings received a $20,000 penalty for accepting bets on unsanctioned events between 2020 and 2022, including Russian basketball.

Kambi, which provides sportsbook technology to several operators, was fined $10,000 after failing to ensure Rush Street Gaming was no longer accepting bets on certain markets. In numerous incidents, bettors placed wagers on games that were already finished. Kambi blamed one of the issues on a connectivity problem and another on human error.

Rush Street Interactive will also have to pay a $10,000 fine for the betting market errors.
