Denise Coates is the best-paid CEO in the UK, even after a 45% pay drop last year that cut her remuneration from £270m ($339m) to £150m ($188m). Bet365’s head honcho’s compensation is 50% of the company’s £110m ($138m) dividend and a £94.7m ($119m) salary, with the online operator going from strength to strength.

Turnover rose £300m to £3.7bn in 2024, and Bet365 also successfully cut costs across the business, contributing to a before-tax profit of £626m ($786m).

Coates took over Bet365 from her father, Peter, more than two decades ago and has now earned over £2bn ($2.5bn) by transforming the business into a global heavyweight. The most she took home in one year was a mind-blowing £466m ($585m) in 2020.

The company maintains the core of its operations in Stoke – it is the region’s biggest employer – and the family also owns Stoke City Football Club.
