The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has confirmed its stance on immigration enforcement after getting a raft of questions following Donald Trump’s inauguration as President of the United States.

The 78-year-old’s second term in the White House officially began on Monday, and he wasted no time enacting his border crackdown and plan to deport ten million migrants.

The LVMPD posted a summary of its approach on X, highlighting that no officers will enforce immigration violations. This means they won’t stop and question people, arrest them or place them under an immigration hold simply because they’re undocumented immigrants.

won’t delay an inmate’s release for ICE unless there’s a federal judicial warrant

Officers will still share intelligence with other law enforcement agencies for matters relating to terrorism and organized crime. They will also alert ICE about any criminal charges for undocumented immigrants that potentially endanger public safety, such as violent felonies, DUIs, and domestic violence. The statement notes that it won’t delay an inmate’s release for ICE unless there is a federal judicial warrant.
