The gambling ring involved in having now-banned NBA player Jontay Porter feign injury to leave the action early is under suspicion of manipulating college basketball games. ESPN has reported that accounts linked to these individuals also placed bets on at least three games that raised red flags.
The accounts related to the gambling ring bet against Eastern Michigan, Mississippi Valley State, and North Carolina AT&T. Eastern Michigan was involved in two flagged games, as sportsbook operators spotted suspicious activity on first-half betting lines on both occasions. The first-half point spread moved significantly in another game between Delaware and North Carolina A&T.

Five men have already been charged in relation to getting Porter to manipulate player prop bet markets during two NBA games in the 2023-2024 season to repay his gambling debts. Four of them have admitted their guilt, while the other is still in plea agreement negotiations.
It came to light last week that Terry Rozier was potentially involved with manipulating games when he played with the Charlotte Hornets. He exited a game against the New Orleans Pelicans after just nine minutes, and operators noticed suspicious betting activity on his “under” props. The NBA conducted its own probe into the Rozier allegations and cleared the veteran.
