Super Bowl weekend is always a busy time in Las Vegas as people go to parties across the city and place bets at the sportsbooks. Many properties host watch parties; one Las Vegas casino charges $480 per person, covering basic beverages and food.

Having hosted the big game at Allegiant Stadium last year, it was always going to be hard for Las Vegas to get near the same level of room demand this time.

dropped 45% to $157.75 for this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

The city’s room rates hit historic highs last year in the lead-up to the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, with the average price reaching $288.82 per night the weekend before the game, according to figures from the Las Vegas Review-Journal. That figure has dropped 45% to $157.75 for this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

It seems that rooms are now going for rock-bottom prices, even at top-end Strip properties like the Bellagio. An X user posted screenshots of some of the big price slashes they’ve seen heading into the weekend:

Other users remarked on the bargain rates, saying that people don’t have as much disposable income with the rising cost of living crisis, especially with domestic flight prices so high at the moment.
