A mid-season trade has never caused as much disbelief as the decision by the Dallas Mavericks to send their superstar point guard Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis.

While some people say it was smart business as the Mavericks avoided paying the 25-year-old a $345m five-year contract this summer, most fans were skeptical. Doncic donned the Lakers jersey for the first time on Monday night against the Utah Jazz.

Doncic only scored 14, not getting near the over 26.5 points target

While his team won by 19 points, Doncic only scored 14, not getting near the over 26.5 points target many bettors backed before the game. Doubts about his physical fitness remain, as the Slovenian native looking tired after scoring his first points in the first quarter:

It was his first game since Christmas, though, so it will understandably take him time to get back up to speed. The Mavericks, meanwhile, will have to wait a few weeks before seeing Anthony Davis back on the court. He made his debut on Saturday only to suffer a groin injury during the game against the Houston Rockets.
