Kroger to Promote Digital Sports Betting, iCasino to Customers

One of leading supermarket retailers in the US is getting into the digital sports betting and iCasino market.  

Ohio-based Kroger is, according to Covers, allowing its customers to sign up with gambling operators via its “retail supermarkets and gas stations to receive promotions and offers.”

According to reports, Kroger customers can either use a QR code or link to download Kroger Play. The app then allows customers to create accounts with third parties including mobile sportsbook “ESPN BET, online casinos through PENN Entertainment, and Daily Fantasy Sports site OwnersBox.”

Kroger’s 1,200 stores operate in 16 US states, nine of which have legal sports betting markets, while two states have legal iCasino markets.

For example, the Cincinnati Business Courier stated, when a “customer deposits and plays with $10 at OwnersBox” then Kroger Play will respond with $50 for daily fantasy sports contests. 

The Courier said Kroger declined to comment on its new sports betting product “because of how new the product is.”
