Newly published research shows that 56% of adult males in the US under the age of 50 have an online sports betting account, which is double the rest of the population. Siena College Research Institute released the interesting findings alongside St. Bonaventure University on Tuesday:
While most of the survey respondents said they have fun when sports betting and enjoy the excitement, a concerning number of people showed some warning signs of problematic behavior. About 52% admitted to chasing their losses, 37% felt shame after experiencing a loss, and one-fifth had financial-related struggles on the back of their wagering activity.

There were also insights into addiction levels, with one-third of respondents knowing a person who has experienced an online betting addiction. Just 9% of the bettors had contacted a problem gambling helpline or sought another form of treatment.
