ClubWPT Gold is the new kid on the poker scene. The online poker product operates on a sweepstakes-based platform and shot onto the scene thanks to a partnership with World Poker Tour last year. Despite being new, the brand isn’t afraid of ruffling a few feathers on social media.
The poker brand’s X account posted a video to X on Saturday, firing shots at its competitor Americas Cardroom (ACR). The video featured ACR ambassadors Chris Moneymaker and Ebony Kelly, although their voices were dubbed to suggest they were saying some pretty scandalous things:
The clip is referencing a recent scandal on ACR. The operator’s ambassador Nacho Barbero uploaded a video to social media in which he was playing on the platform while using GTO Wizard. ACR attempted to trivialize the issue with a comical post to X before backtracking and supposedly carrying out an investigation.
Nonetheless, the damage was done to ACR’s reputation, with many calling out the brand for its lack of action in response to possible cheating.
The reaction to ClubWPT’s jibe at its competitor was mixed. Some commended the operator for its brutal approach, one user deeming the account manager a “sick f*cking dude.”
Meanwhile, some urged the brand to take more caution considering its own scandal could be on the horizon. “Pretty foolish to go this hard because you’ve been open for 5 minutes,” Collin Capone wrote. “You’re likely 10 mins away from your first scandal.” In response, ClubWPT Gold said: “Don’t threaten me with a good time.”
