Stephen A. Smith, one of the biggest sports television personalities in the US, is never shy about expressing his sometimes-controversial opinions.
he’d like the role of president if he doesn’t have to do any campaigning for the position
He told listeners on a radio show during the lead-up to the Super Bowl that he’d like the role of president if he doesn’t have to do any campaigning for the position. The 57-year-old believes he’s too much of a straight shooter to play up to the masses to try to win their favor.
Off the back of these comments, people on prediction platform Kalshi have the implied odds of Smith securing the Democratic Party nomination at 7.26%:
A $100 wager would return $1,266 if he was successfully chosen and the only people ahead of him in the betting lines are Wes Moore, Josh Shapiro, and Gavin Newsom. Some big names he passed on the list include Michelle Obama and Kamala Harris. (Editor’s note: As of publication, Smith has slipped in the rankings, but the people ranked 4th through 7th are all in the 7% range.)
Kalshi’s presidential betting markets get plenty of attention, even so far out from the 2028 election, with more than $1.2m wagered on the Democratic nominee market so far.
