Donald Trump has certainly been busy since he returned to the position of US President last month.

He has waged war on illegal immigrants and completely U-turned the country’s policy on the Ukraine war. He also intends to impose investment restrictions on “foreign adversaries.”

Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, and Venezuela also appear on the “America First Investment Policy”

On the list of these adversaries, published by Trump on Friday, are China, Hong Kong, and the gambling hub of Macau. In addition to these, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, and Venezuela also appear on the “America First Investment Policy.”

Trump intends to limit the amount that these countries can invest in the US. He claims that nations such as China are using profits made through the US to develop their military and intelligence organizations, which oppose the US.

Trump’s administration will also prevent US companies from investing in sectors that help China advance its military or other organizations.

The Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China deemed the list “discriminatory.” The body said “China will keep a close watch on the US side and take necessary measures to defend its legitimate rights and interests.”

Notably, Macau’s casino industry is largely fueled by US companies. Three of the six casino operators in the Special Administrative Region are American.
