Sports gambler Shane Hennen is in trouble. According to court documents, he was arrested in January 2025 at the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas for aiding in the organization of a point-shaving scandal in the NBA and NCAA.
Sports Illustrated reported that the office of acting US Attorney Carolyn Pokorny of the Eastern District of New York has found “substantial evidence” of Hennen’s involvement with “illicit financial transactions and fraudulent sports wagers totaling millions of dollars,” resulting “in potentially millions of dollars’ worth of illicit profits and money-laundering transactions.”

According to court documents, Hennen’s alleged involvement in game fixing first occurred back when he connected with Toronto Raptors center Jontay Porter, who was banned from the NBA for life due to his admission of sitting out of games to enable gamblers to bet on how he played.
Sports Illustrated further reported that Hennen’s gambling operation and wagering could be connected to at least nine college games across the last season and this season. Unfortunately, Temple college could be one of the involved colleges.
The US Attorney’s office said that four co-conspirators have been accused of working with Hennen, all of who are from New York or Pennsylvania.
