Kick co-Founder Bijan Tehrani reacted on Tuesday to HasanAbi’s unbanning on Twitch, citing double standards. He explained in an X post that the Amazon-owned platform blackballs anyone who goes against their rules by not allowing any Twitch personalities to showcase content involving these people:

Tehrani specifically mentioned xQc as one of the few streamers with the profile to call out Twitch and referenced the streamer’s comment that the way he was treated was “comical” compared to the Hasan situation.

Tehrani emphasized that Adin Ross has served a ban for the past two years due to “unmoderated chat,” while HasanAbi only got a 24-hour ban for telling viewers to kill a US senator:

HasanAbi, real name Hasan Piker, is a popular political commentator with over 2.8 million followers on Twitch. He called out US lawmakers, alleging they committed Medicare fraud, and attacked right-leaning commentators.

reversing the decision without any public explanation

Twitch banned him for just one day before reversing the decision without any public explanation. The likely reason for the ban was comments about US Senator Rick Scott during a stream on Friday where he said: “If you cared about Medicare fraud or Medicaid fraud, you would kill Rick Scott!” He later retracted the comments on X.

Some people sided with Piker, saying that the ban infringed upon his right to free speech, while others said he was calling on his fans to commit violence.
