A Los Angeles Lakers fan just lived out every fan’s dream. He was called up to take the MGM Rewards halftime shot at the Crypto.com Arena, home of his beloved Lakers. Grabbing the opportunity with both hands, he put the ball in the basket from the halfway line, securing himself $100,000 and all of the glory.
The fan, Michael Ball, posted the moment to his X page:
Many people congratulated Ball in the comments, including Ray Almeda, who described himself as a “fellow NBA halfcourt shot maker.” Ball jokingly asked him there was a group chat for all the shotmakers that Almeda could add him too.
Ball explained that he got to high five renowned film director Spike Lee
Providing some further details of his exploits, Ball explained that he got to high five renowned film director Spike Lee after making the shot. The director, whose hit films include She’s Gotta Have It and BlacKkKlansman, is a big Lakers fan.
Many even believe Ball was responsible for the dramatic turn around in the game. The team erased a double-digit lead by the New York Knicks in the second half to secure their eight straight win. They sealed a 113-109 overtime victory.
“You should get the ball game tonight,” another fan told Ball on X. “Haha I’ll take 5% credit,” he responded.
