Billionaires have a reputation for flashing their wealth and treating extravagant expenses as pocket change. Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t seem to fall into this category though, as he posted footage on his Instagram stories of him playing $2/$5 poker at the Wynn Las Vegas, low stakes for a man with a net worth of $207bn:
The 40-year-old is seen taking a big pot and receiving congratulations from his fellow players during a private game. One of the people at the table was Australian UFC fighter Alexander Volkanovski.
Zuckerberg was in town with his wife for UFC 313 after taking a keen interest in mixed martial arts (MMA) in recent years. He even appeared in the corner of Volkanovski last year for his bout against Ilia Topuria in UFC 298.
UFC fans believe there’s a Zuckerberg curse
Some UFC fans believe there’s a Zuckerberg curse, as several fighters have gone on losing streaks after appearing in pictures alongside him, including Volkanovski, Kai Wurm, Israel Adesanya, and most recently, Alex Pereira.
The Meta CEO hasn’t talked too much about poker in the past, so it’s unclear as to his actual ability. The main reference he made to it was during a podcast with Joe Rogan when he explained how virtual reality would allow players to feel like they’re present at a poker table while sitting in their own individual homes.
